Friendly, Positive & Professional Driver Training
Male & Female DVSA Approved Driving Instructors
COVID-19 Terms & Conditions
Due to COVID-19 some of our usual working practises have needed to be adjusted. Your instructor will explain any changes when you book your lessons. We have also implemented some temporary COVID-19 Terms & Conditions. These conditions are in addition to our usual Terms & Conditions, unless stated otherwise. Please ensure that you make yourself aware of our usual Terms & Conditions which you will receive when you start lessons and can also be found in the Notes section on our Facebook page or on your Total Drive app.
License & Eyesight
An online license check will now be carried out for all new learners. Details of this will be provided in your booking confirmation pack. Your license must still be presented on your first lesson but will be viewed from a distance without physically handling the license.
Payment for Lessons
Payments will continue in the same way as before, however cash payments must be presented before you enter the car. This is to allow your instructor to store this safety and sanitise their hands.
Lesson Postponement or Cancellation
Ordinarily a minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to postpone or cancel a lesson. In the case of COVID-19 symptoms (a new continuous cough, a high temperature, a loss of or change in your normal sense of taste or smell), the usual cancellation policy will not apply.
COVID-19 Symptoms
If you develop COVID-19 symptoms (a new continuous cough, a high temperature, a loss of or change in your normal sense of taste or smell) prior to your lesson you MUST contact us and cancel your lesson immediately and self-isolate in line with government guidance. You should request a COVID-19 test as soon as possible. It is your responsibility to tell us if you have symptoms - It would not be practical for us to contact all students prior to lessons to check.
If you develop symptoms AFTER your driving lesson please let us know as soon as possible, so that we can take appropriate actions such as self-isolating and contacting other students. If after taking a COVID-19 test you receive a negative result, please let us know so that we can continue to deliver lessons!
If we develop symptoms we will contact all students immediately and self-isolate for the required time. We will also take a test and notify you of the result.
Face Coverings
A face covering will be required for lessons. This will need to be a fabric or surgical mask and NOT a face shield or visor, as the safety of shields/visors cannot be guaranteed should the airbag be deployed. The face covering must be retained by the wearer and not left in the car. This should be provided by the learner. If a learner presents for a lesson without a face covering, one will be available to purchase for £1.
The initial discussion will be carried out outside of the car at a safe distance, before putting your mask on and entering the car. The end of lesson debrief will also be carried out outside the car, at a safe distance with masks removed.
If you are unable to wear a mask, you must notify us of this BEFORE booking your lessons.
Hand Washing
You will be expected to wash your hands immediately prior to your lesson and use hand sanitiser (this will be provided) when you come out to the car. If you are unable to use hand sanitiser, you must notify us of this BEFORE booking your lesson.
Car Sanitation
The windows will be kept open for ventilation as much as is practical, taking into account road noise and weather conditions. All contact points both inside and outside of the car will be wiped down with antibacterial spray/wipes before you get into the car. We have also installed wipeable seat covers so that these can be cleaned easily. We are more than happy to provide you with supplies to do this again yourself before you enter the car for your peace of mind. If we need to take control of the steering wheel during a lesson or operate any of the controls, we will stop briefly so that these can be wiped down and hands can be sanitised.
Disposal of Face Covering & Cloths/Wipes
Any face coverings and cloths/wipes used by the instructor will be placed in the boot and will be washed/disposed of safely at the end of the day, in line with government guidelines.
Personal Items
Please avoid bringing unnecessary personal items to your lesson. If you do, please place these in the boot of the car.
Theory & Practical Tests
It is your responsibility to make yourself aware of the new procedures and requirements for Theory & Practical Tests. Your instructor can provide you with this information if required and can also be found by following this link: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-driving-tests-and-theory-tests
