Frequently Asked Questions
If you can't find the answer to your question, please get in touch. We are always happy to help!
What do I need to do before I start my driving lessons?
In order to start driving lessons, you need to be in possession of a provisional driving license. Please click HERE to find out how to apply for your provisional license.
Do I need to pass my Theory Test before I can start my lessons?
No! Although it is fine if you have. At Victoria Hopkins Driving Tuition we offer free and full access to Theory Test Pro. When you book your first lesson with us you will receive your log in details and can start practising straight away!
Will I be able to choose my Instructor?
Subject to availability, yes! We are more than happy for you to specify which instructor you would like however you may need to join our waiting list if your chosen instructor is full.
Will I have the same Instructor every lesson?
Yes! It is really important for consistency in your lessons. Your instructor will get to know your strengths and will also have the best knowledge of what you have covered so far.
What will happen on my first lesson?
On your first lesson, your instructor will arrive at your chosen pick up point (usually your home address) a few minutes before the lesson start time. After the initial introductions, your instructor will need to see your provisional license and check your eyesight. Your instructor will then drive to a suitable training area (usually somewhere quiet) and ask a few questions to establish what you already know. Don't worry if you think you don't know anything, that's fine! It's also fine if you have lots of previous experience. Your instructor will be keen to get you driving the car as soon as you are ready.
How many lessons will I need?
Unfortunately this is our most frequently asked question and also the one which is hardest to answer! As a rough guide, the DVSA suggests an average of around 44 hours of professional lessons and an additional 22 hours of private practise. How soon you are ready for your test will depend on a number of factors including how quickly you learn, how often you have lessons and whether you are able to practise in between lessons. We will always keep you actively involved in your progress though.
How do I pay for my lessons?
We accept both cash and bank transfer. Please let us know beforehand if you would like to pay by bank transfer.
Do you offer intensive driving courses?
We don't offer full intensive courses however, subject to availability we may be able to offer students extended lessons. Please talk to your instructor about this.
